when i see them on chia pets, i'm thinking--- has the world gone mad?.
I watched a few minutes of it last night, just to see what all the fuss was about. One of the guys caught a turtle for his wife, I guess to keep as a pet. Then she asked him to catch another. Then the old guy was riding on a scooter down some road and some other guys from the clan came up alongside him in this badazz black pickup truck and they started arguing about something.
Yeah, that was 3 or 4 minutes i'll never get back. LOL
we have not had a tv for about 2 years.
and even befor this we did not have cable and spent very little time in front of the tv.
that does not mean that we are anti entertainment.
Most advertising is annoying but, there are some very funny ads too. Like the Sonic guys, and the Mayhem guy for Allstate insurance. Now Sam Elliott commercials (Coors, Dodge Trucks) - the mute button comes in handy for those.
TV is my company outside of work, unfortunately.

I bought a flo-bee many years ago after watching the late-night infomercial for it a bunch of times. They were these motorized haircutting devices that hooked up to your vacuum cleaner. I actually got a lot of use out of it, until the motor finally gave out. The haircuts were passable, not great though. LOL.
for the last year or so, the opening lyrics to gloria estefan's "always tomorrow" have been howling at me.. i've been alone inside myself, far too long.
never really wanted it that way, but i let it happen..... .
(btw, the message in that song is great for former jw's, if you want to think about the lyrics that way....).

it's been a long time since i posted here, but i lurk often, checking in on things in the jw world.
i have been out for 25 years, but have family still in.
none of them speak to me anymore, even though they used to quite often and quite regular, breaking all the shunning rules.
i'm so frightened of what the future holds. god. I don't have seeds. I don't have guns. I just want things to stay ok. Jesus thinking about shit like this is depressing. I'm trying to get UNdepressed.
i am reading a book by victor sebestyn called "revolution 1989 - the fall of the soviet empire".
if you lived through the astonishing collapse of communism in the late '80s i highly recommend it.. what has struck me is the description of life under communism in the six soviet satellite states of east germany, poland, czechoslovakia, hungary, romania and bulgaria.. here is a couple of paragraphs that really stood out to me as a possible parallel to the current climate in the regime of jw.org.. ---------------------------------------------------------.
once idealism or revolutionary fervour had disappeared - certainly by the soviet invasion of czechosloakia in 1968 - the system stagnated.
what's sad is that one of the most important indicators of outward conformity is the shunning.
for people who have a paralyzing fear of dying, to where it seems like it's this horrible, stalking monster, jwism is a powerful sedative.. but really, the idea of living forever, in human form, is nonsense.
living forever isn't about living forever, it's about not dying.. death is natural.
it can be painful, sudden, or both.
Well to those of who on this and other threads encouraged me to seek help...
I finally caved and will be starting on an Rx depression med tomorrow. So wish me luck. The past three months have been a real roller coaster ride, only not in the enjoyable sense.

i mean it can be shown biblically that only people that do not believe in jesus as the messiah are apostates.
thessalonians tells us to keep admonishing one as a 'brother' and jesus christ himself said to love your enemies.
'You either love JEHOVAH (i.e., the Organization), or you love THEM. It's YOUR CHOICE. You can't have both. If you love the former, then you MUST despise the latter. If you love the latter, then you are indicating a lack of love for the former - and you KNOW where that will lead you.'
This "choice" (if you call it that), and the it's-a-life-or-death-matter importance of making the right one, is what is put in front of JWs and continuously reinforced, to where it has become one of the defining means by which individual JWs gauge their strength in the faith (and by implication, their likelihood of surviving armageddon).
JWism: Go to meetings, go out in field service, shun the GODDAM traitors, don't breathe a single word that would indicate doubt, and you're good - you won't die.
